When the creeks fill with autumn rainfall, the salmon are waiting at the mouths of rivers to return to their birthplace. This piece was inspired by a big return on the Adams River where the water was red with coho in a frenzy spawning in the gravels before they die. I wanted to focus on the fraying of the flesh, the decay, the determination of a species to reproduce in such exacting circumstances. Image size is 12x18 inches, series of 10, signed and numbered. Frame not included.
