I started my science career in botany. I wanted to learn the edible, medicinal, and other properties of native plants and their ecosystems. Later this evolved into soil science and then a long stint in water resources. Returning to celebrate my love of the understory (below the canopy of trees), I am creating a native plant series and I can easily start with what flowers in the rainforest. Foxgloves are abundant at all elevations. I found a small field of these tucked within the rocks near the lighthouse in Ucluelet.
