Great Blue Heron
When I first moved here I shared the shoreline with a solitary heron feeding in the shallow muck of the inlet. I could sit there and watch for hours, the heron strolling and searching for a meal. I made this print quite large, not typical for printmakers using this technique. I find the subject matter dictates the size of my work. I wanted to depict a restful and reflective quality to the scene and accentuate the detailed hair-like feathers that cascade down the front and sides of the heron. Absolutely one of my favourite birds.
